New Year’s Eve Piñata Cake With Buttercream Flowers
How have you celebrate a new year? Probably many people in UK stayed home for NYE this time, and had to change their plans and gave up meeting with their families or loved ones.
However, it is still possible to add a pinch of laugh and joy to NYE at home, and our proposal is piñata cake!

Sorry my dear readers, but I cannot share how it looks like when you cut the cake as it’s specially made for new year’s eve celebration for a client.
However I’m sure you know how pinata cakes amazingly look like, and it’s not difficult to imagine how it’s delightful and enjoyable to find loads of colorful treasures when cutting - no smashing like a real one - the cake.

Apart from the fun of pinata itself, my favorite point of the design is coloring. The cake is all ivory white! An aim here is to make the pinata “wow“ moment more hilarious and colorful. You will find colorful sprinkles and chocolates after wintery flowers in all ivory white!

イタリアンメレンゲ・バタークリームの白薔薇
The cake is covered with silky vanilla buttercream and decorated with off white roses and poinsettias. There are several shades of white for more delicate winter wonder blooms!
トーンを変えたオフホワイト数色をつかって絞っています
Some of you may wonder how the flowers taste like - as I use special recipes for the flowers, it’s different from vanilla buttercream used to fill the cake. I would say flowers are richer and a bit weighty, while fillings are lighter and melting in mouth.

Also, though amount of sugar is totally same between these buttercreams, you may feel more sweetness from flowers.
I’m happy with how both creams taste and how each of them play roles in the cake!
An Extra Cut…
Compared with 12 months ago, the beginning of this year was completely different for most of us. I normally fly back to Japan and stay with my parents, but have stayed at home in London.
Though I was lucky as I could stay with my husband and son, surely I miss my parents and friends in my home country.
Really hope this pandemic will be over soon, and everyone in the world can go and meet with their loved ones whenever they want.
